We are delighted to support Camp Jojo, who are based in East Mersea on the Essex coast. They are a charity supporting families of children with complex needs to be able enjoy a camping holiday together.
They provide all the physical, emotional and practical support needed to make camping possible for the whole family.
We look forward to hearing more about this special charity and how they continue to support the local community with their wonderful camp.
I am delighted to continue my support of our local Bowls Club; with many new members it’s been a wonderful season.
Update from the Club:
Another season has drawn to a close and once again it has been both enjoyable and successful, more on our successes shortly. Our annual open day in May attracted lots of people wanting to give Bowls a try, and we have signed up 6 new members. We entered teams in the usual Colchester and Sudbury Leagues, as well as many members entering either as themselves or in pairs, triples or fours in Knockout competitions.
So how did we do? Our team in the ‘A’ division of the Colchester Triples league finished as WINNERS for the first time in 10 years. In the same competition our ‘B’ team narrowly missed out on promotion from the ‘B’ league by 2 points – better luck next year! In the Colchester Fours leagues, our ‘A’ team finished in a respectable 3rd place. Our ‘B’ fours team finished respectably mid-table in the B Division. Last but not least our ladies finished 7th in the North West Essex league.
In the Knockout competitions we came runners up in the Colchester Borough Pairs, for the 2nd year in a row. We then won the final of the Sudbury Singles competition. As a club we made the semi-finals of the Essex Group 1 Unbadged Fours and Badged fours competitions, beating strong Tendring based sides along the way, this is the best we have done in these competitions for a long time. Well done all!
Internally we ran 8 competitions this year, and had lots of new winners.
Over the Autumn & Winter we will be working on our green. We are in the final year of a 3 year plan to improve our green and already since the season ended the green has been scarified and deep-seeded.
Our annual open day will be in May, date tbc, when it is we’ll pop the date in the News section of our website.
‘Roll’ on 2025.

We were delighted to support this super event in November 2017 – held at Milsoms Kesgrave in Ipswich. It went off with a fire starting bang (literally) The Fire & Ice Ball was created to show our support to the St. James's Place Charitable Foundation, a non profit organisation helping all manners of charities since 1992, making a positive and lasting difference to people’s lives. A large amount was raised on the night for the Foundation, which was generously double matched by St. James's Place. You can see their good work by clicking the link below.
